Committees

The "behind the scenes" business matters of GRMOTC are conducted at monthly Executive Board meetings held on the first Thursday of each month. The board consists of the elected officers, past presidents, and committee chairs. Committee chairs are appointed by the incoming President and serve for a one-year term. Listed below is a brief description of the active committees:

Chaplain - writes a reflection or prayer for each newsletter and shares one at the general meetings.

Discussion Group - organizes and hosts the monthly Newcomers' Circle and Moms of Tots.

Garage Sale - responsible for conducting the bi-annual GRMOTC garage sale.

Historian - keeper of the club camera, photo albums, scrapbooks and banners, and maintains the history of our Club through photos taken at events.

Honor Awards - responsible for organizing the Member of the Year voting process, purchasing end-of-the-year gifts for each of the officers, and coordinating the purchase of the five-, ten- and fifteen-year membership bars. This person also inducts new officers in a brief ceremony and honors any lifetime members (20 years).

Hostess & Telephone - welcomes members and guests to general meetings. Additionally, the committee oversees the badge/bar orders and keeps a record of members eligible to vote in the May elections.

Librarian - makes the GRMOTC lending library available to members during meetings, manages the checkout procedure, and purchases new books.

Membership - responds to requests for information about GRMOTC by prospective members.

National Representative - responsible for sharing any National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs (NOMOTC) news or tips with the membership via newsletter columns.

Newsletter - responsible for publishing and mailing the monthly newsletter (Multiple Messenger).

Nominating - solicits candidates for officer positions.

NY State Representative - acts as a liaison between the NY State organization and GRMOTC. Additionally, she is responsible for organizing all Club members who plan on attending the annual NY State convention held each April. The convention brings mothers of multiples from across New York State together for a three-day weekend.

Parliamentarian - advises GRMOTC members regarding parliamentary procedures (the process we use to make major decisions), maintains the bylaws and procedures, and conducts the election process.

Philanthropy - coordinates all philanthropic efforts including seeing to the needs of members who are less fortunate or are experiencing financial problems as well as reaching out to the community.

Program Assistants - help the Vice President(s) plan the monthly programs and special events for the year.

Publicity - ensures that the greater Rochester community is aware of the existence of GRMOTC. This is done through news releases, brochures, mailings, business cards, etc.

Refreshments - coordinates the refreshments for general meetings.

Secret Pal - coordinates the secret pal program where members voluntarily sign up to make another member feel special by sending cards or giving small inexpensive or homemade gifts throughout the year.

Special Activities - responsible for several special events throughout the year: Children's Halloween and Christmas parties and Family Picnic.

Sunshine - sends out rays of sunshine on behalf of the club in the way of sympathy, congratulations, get well and thinking of you cards.

Ways & Means - responsible for organizing the fundraiser(s) that help to subsidize various programs and special activities held throughout the year.

Website - designs/maintains/updates the club website.
